The Indonesian Trade Ministry is optimistic about the United Arab Emirates (UAE) becoming a significant export hub for Indonesian halal products, potentially boosting Indonesian halal exports to Middle Eastern and African countries. This vision is supported by the Indonesia-United Arab Emirates Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IUAE CEPA), which has strengthened economic ties between the two nations. To enhance the export of Indonesian halal products, the ministry has actively engaged in activities such as participating in international exhibitions and trade missions.

They have collaborated with the National Committee for Islamic Economy and Finance (KNEKS) to implement initiatives to support halal product exporters, foster business growth, and promote domestic products. In addition to these efforts, the Indonesian Retailer Business Forum recently brought together retailers and the national halal cosmetics industry, focusing on reducing imports of foreign products and encouraging the use of local products in Indonesia.

The ultimate goal is to decrease the volume of imported products and raise awareness about the quality of domestic products among the Indonesian population. These forums also seek to foster collaboration between business entities in the halal cosmetics sector and retailers to address the trade deficit in the industry, which currently sees higher imports of cosmetics, essential oils, and fragrance materials compared to exports, according to Statistics Indonesia (BPS) data for 2022.
