Vietnam has launched the Vietnam Halal Certification Authority (HALCERT), a significant move aimed at strengthening its Halal industry. Mandated by Decision No 689/QĐ-TĐC of March 29, 2024, HALCERT, under the umbrella of QUACERT, will oversee certification activities, facilitating discussions, training, and international collaboration within the Halal industry. Following extensive research since 2017 and the development of standards published as TCVN 13888:2023, HALCERT aims to ensure the credibility and relevance of Halal certification in Vietnam. With projections indicating a Halal market value of US$5 trillion by 2030, HALCERT's establishment offers promising opportunities for Vietnamese businesses, enhancing product reputation and signaling a commitment to international standards, thereby facilitating increased exports and market penetration in the Halal sector.
